To summarize:

1. Download Epson-ALCX11-filter-1.1.tar.gz by selecting 'Other' and 'Other' for the distribution and version drop down boxes. It's at the bottom of the section title 'Download for AcuLaser CX11 for CUPS'.
   
2. Once downloaded, do the following to compile and install the driver (commands in square brackets are optional, if you're not sure if something is installed, perform the command):

3. Now go to System -> Administration -> Printing
4. Go to Edit -> New Printer (your Epson CX11NF should be in the list on the left)

6. If you see the job enter the queue briefly and then disappear, with no output from your Epson, try this command to help offer pointers to missing dependencies:

若無法設定，
sudo cp /usr/local/bin/pstoalcx11.sh /usr/bin/
或是ln亦可。

xmind 3.0

xmind 3.0有許多優秀的功能，介面也很漂亮，可以有多重核心，
改變形狀還包含魚骨圖，是FREEMIND比不上的。

但是，可以讀入.mm 等，儲存格式卻是專屬的。

還有，匯出的種類尚不及FREEMIND多，仍需多加點油。

Ubuntu 8.04 問題

Ubuntu 8.04 的 Flash 中文字變方框

這是因為Ubuntu 8.04 將字型的設定改變了。

只要刪除/etc/fonts/conf.d/49-sansserif.conf，或重新命名，重開瀏覽器就會正常了。

如 果您確定 Compiz Fusion 運作正常，您可以設動每次登入自動啟動 Compiz Fusion 。方法是先選取『系統』(System) -> 『偏好設定』(Preference) -> 『作業階段』(Session) 啟動作業階段配置視窗。在『初始啟動程式』分頁按『新增』(Add)。有 Fusion 小圖示，請填入以下項目：
* 名稱 (Name): Compiz Fusion Icon
* 指令 (Command): fusion-icon

無 Fusion 小圖示的朋友則填入以下項目：
* 名稱 (Name): Compiz Fusion
* 指令 (Command): compiz --replace

完成後按『確定』(Ok) 和『離開』(Close) 離開。下次再登入時就會自動啟動Compiz Fusion。

趕 緊下載解壓縮，執行YOYOPlayer.jar，（按右鍵「以其他方式開啟」,「以Sun Java 6 Runtime"開啟」），設定編碼為Big5，彷彿回到以前用千千靜聽的日子。天哪！我簡直要留下感恩的眼淚！這種感覺，就像是你天天看這個世界到處有 人對罵，似乎沒什麼未來，但是一遇到熱誠付出、真心待人的感人事蹟，還是會差點管不住眼淚一樣。

等了幾年，最後還是在對岸同好的手中完成，心中真是百感交集。總之，還是要謝謝千里冰封，不但讓我能恢復以前的習慣，還能大聲宣傳：Linux底下也有能同步歌詞的軟體可用！（儘管是Java的）

教育部允諾要製作Windows常用的軟體而Linux還沒有相對應的部份，如今已經解決其中一項了，希望另一項能早日實現！

安裝 AWN (Avant Window Navigator)

各位同好：

我之前就覺得環保（省圖、省美編）雖然很重要，但是缺乏吸引力是無法改變現狀的！
因為不容易引起他人強烈的使用動機，就難以進行改變。

幾年前有個高中生就已經留言，說美美的畫面才是吸引年輕人的第一要素；
今日有幸，在不斷努力下，終於讓花蓮的租賃電腦擁有流暢的3D桌面。

重點不在完成3D桌面，而是學生的反應：用過的每一班學生都不願意回到原來的桌面，
而3D桌面之炫，是xp，連Vista都比不上的特異功能！
甚至每一班都有學生問我怎麼在家裏安裝？即使我說沒辦法，他們還是不死心。

4/3，學校運動會有花教大學生來幫忙，我趁機展示，結果聽到的是驚叫連連，
小女生都很渴望自己的電腦也能有這個把戲，而他們也不知道原來可以裝雙系統！

由上述的經驗可知，酷炫的3D桌面的確能引起強烈的使用動機，所以各位同好們，
就趁機用3D桌面攻佔他們的心靈吧！

以下是我最近安裝的心得：
1.修改/etc/X11/xorg.conf：非ATI顯示晶片的略過此步驟
sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Section "Extensions"
Option "Composite" "0"
EndSection
改成
Section "Extensions"
Option "Composite" "1"
EndSection

2.裝套件
sudo apt-get install xserver-xgl compizconfig-settings-manager emerald

3.裝fusion icon：

sudo dpkg -i fusion*

4.裝awn
加入套件庫
Gutsy(Ubuntu 7.10):

sudo apt-get install avant-window-navigator-bzr awn-core-applets-bzr awn-manager-bzr

5.到
Eyecandy for your GNOME-Desktop - GNOME-Look.org
下載安裝妳喜歡的，如：佈景主題、GTX2.X、icon、Emerald、splash、Wallpaper等。像我比較欣賞mac，下載的都是該系列的。
安裝時，theme、icon、Wallpaper都是在 系統-偏好設定-外觀設定 裡安裝的。
Emerald 則在 系統-偏好設定-Emerald Theme Manager 裡，用Import 匯入。

6.啟動 Fusion icon，將 Select Window Manager 設為Compiz ，（按右鍵）
Compiz Options 選第一個，Select Window Decorator 選 Emerald。

7.到應用程式- 附屬應用程式 - Avant Window Navgator，在一般的icon Effect選3D，承條外貌的Look也改成3D，Applets選你要的，Launchers加入你常用的。

8.最後，若想開機時自動啟動，就到系統-偏好設定-作業階段 手動加入即可。指令若不熟，可參考選單的設定。

ps.若是ATI的晶片，似乎與Fusion icon相衝，可安裝 gnome-compiz-manager
sudo apt-get install gnome-compiz-manager
然後利用 系統-偏好設定-GL Desktop 啟用 Enable GL Desktop。

我在ASUS A8j的 X1600已經安裝成功。

DHCP3-SERVER in Edubuntu Server

steps:

1. You should set your IP settings to static. You can do it by editing file/etc/network/interfaces config file. For the primary interface, usually it’s eth0, you will see following lines:

auto eth0
iface eth0 inet dhcp

You may set different IP settings here, in my case I change those lines to:

auto eth0
iface eth0 inet static
address 192.168.1.100
netmask 255.255.255.0
network 192.168.1.0
broadcast 192.168.1.255
gateway 192.168.1.1

2. Set your DNS Servers editing /etc/resolv.conf file.

3. sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart

4. sudo apt-get update

5. sudo apt-get install dhcp3-server

6. sudo vim /etc/defaults/dhcp3-server
Add your interface name in the settings file. ( INTERFACES=”eth0″ )
We know that right after installing dhcp3-server packages it tries to start it but fails. So now that we changed default interface it will listen to we try again to start the server by typing:

7. sudo /etc/init.d/dhcp3-server start
8. All the logs from dhcp server is sent to syslog, we check it:

S o why is it still not starting up? After doing some digging in /etc/init.d/dhcp3-server start script I found that it has the following lines:

# Allow ltsp to override
if [ -f /etc/ltsp/dhcpd.conf ]; then
CONFIG_FILE=/etc/ltsp/dhcpd.conf
break
fi

Since we don’t need ltsp configs in this case, let’s just comment them out. You can do so by adding # at the beginning of each line.

Let’s restart the server by typing:

sudo /etc/init.d/dhcp3-server start

That’s all about it! You know have DHCP server configured in Ubuntu Linux.

JAVA音乐播放器YOYOPlayer1.1发布

這是外表近似千千靜聽的可播歌詞的音樂播放器。
最重要的，因為是用JAVA寫的，所以可以跨平台。
在我的 Edubuntu 7.10下載解開後，記得將編碼選對，就一切順利了！

和千千靜聽相同，都是對岸同好的努力結晶，真是感謝了！
